Flickr Spotlight | Interview and international recognition
An extensive Flickr Spotlight highlighted my photographic vision and travel story , from aerial photography to intimate street scenes.
In the article, I talk about my motto Carpe Diem, and how years of flying with KLM have sharpened my view of the world. Traveling taught me to look with intention and to welcome a sense of wonder; photography became not only a creative outlet, but also a way to be fully present in the moment.
Flickr describes how my work moves between scale and detail: from large‑scale aerial photographs where patterns, rhythm, and color take center stage, to street‑level scenes shaped by atmosphere, light, and human presence. That contrast, overview versus detail, forms the core of my visual language.
The interview also discusses my photographic journey: how I was captivated by photography in 2015, how Instagram and Flickr accelerated my development and how a workshop became the starting point of my technical deepening. Since then, I have been consciously working on composition, light and camera technique, with a focus on simplicity and timing.
In addition, the article discusses my sources of inspiration, including the old Dutch masters and my love for three genres: street photography, landscape and architecture. Favourite cities also feature, such as Chicago , a city I experience as cinematic, full of strong lines and contrasts.
Finally, I share my approach to workflow and post-processing. I see photo editing as a creative process reminiscent of painting: enhancing atmosphere, light and emotion without violating the moment.

Flickr | Travel Photography Explored
A separate Flickr article explored my take on travel photography, in conversation with two other photographers.
In this interview, I share my experiences, favourite locations and insights about travelling with a camera. The article shows how different photographers approach the world, and how travelling feeds and deepens creativity.
I talk about my first photography trip through the United States in 2017, a trip that definitely ignited my love for travel photography. From the tranquillity at String Lake in Grand Teton to the overwhelming landscapes of Utah, these moments are still a major source of inspiration.
It also covers cities like Chicago, New York and Toronto, and how nighttime street photography there has added an extra layer to my work. For me, the interplay of artificial light, architecture and human presence enhances the cinematic nature of these cities.
I also discuss my technical and practical approach while travelling: dealing with difficult lighting conditions, my preference for natural light and my method of working with bracketing and long shutter speeds. This combination allows me to preserve atmosphere and detail without losing the spontaneity of the moment.
Together, the article paints a personal picture of how travel, observation and photography are inextricably linked for me.

In the interview, I discuss my passion for photography, my working method as a fine art photographer and how image, atmosphere and composition come together in work intended for interiors and offices. This includes how my images retain their power when enlarged and applied as art prints.
The interview was published as part of my own webshop on Werk aan de Muur, where a selection of my photography is available as high-quality wall decorations.

Honourable mention for my series Birds Eye, Hong Kong
At the Drone Photo Awards 2025, I received a Commended Award for my Birds Eye, Hong Kong series. Hong Kong is, to me, a visual paradise, a city driven by rhythm, energy, and architecture that surprises from every angle. I usually photograph from street level, but for this series I chose the sky instead.
From above, hidden structures and patterns came to life, details you would never notice from the ground. This recognition underscores my ongoing search for new perspectives within urban photography. For my Back Alley Art series, I received an Honorable Mention in the Fine Art / Other category. Awards | ND Awards
Bronze Award for my photograph Birds Eye Hong Kong.
In the Cityscapes category, I received an Honorable Mention for my photograph of Chicago on an icy winter day. The frozen surface of Lake Michigan acts as a mirror for the skyline, capturing both the stillness and the strength of the city in a single moment. A photograph that, for me, symbolizes tranquility within an urban environment full of movement.
In the Night Photography category, I received a Bronze Star Award for my panorama of the Northern Lights over Greenland, captured from the cockpit at 37,000 feet. A magical moment where technology, nature, and photography came together — and one I was proud to preserve.
